Building Bridges in the Community

Our History

In 2006, like-minded individuals from the Indian community decided to form an organisation to socialise with and support the wider American community in the greater Houston area. Club 24 Plus was founded with these goals in mind.

Our Mission

Club 24 Plus is a network of Indo-American influencers, to foster and promote meaningful social interactions within the Indian diaspora as well as society at large. Our mission is to be a key support group for our members, and to contribute to the local community through various philanthropy initiatives. We strive to be relevant, valuable and useful to our members across generations.

Our Goals

The members of Club 24 Plus are successful individuals in their field, who have come together from non-competing professions, and who originate from different regions of India, although membership is not based on religion, creed or caste.

Foster social interactions among the larger community:

First goal of the Club is to build bridges and improve relationships between the Indian diaspora and the larger, American community. For many immigrants, while our schools, colleges or careers offer many opportunities to interact and meet new people, there is often little, regular, interaction on a social level. Many of our members are first generation immigrants,  straddling two worlds –  of India, their country of birth and America, their country of adoption – and they felt the need to expand their network instead of living in isolation. Club 24 was formed to address this need, by inviting local Americans into member’s homes for various events, and share our culture with them.

The Evening of Philanthropy is my personal favorite. This is when Club 24 members give back to charitable organizations in Houston and also in India. Club 24 matches a small portion of those contributions. This is important because Club 24 has members, who are not only accomplished, but also are passionate about making the world a better place.

Improve connections between different generations

The second goal is to build bridges between different generations within our community. This is done through various initiatives that provide better opportunities to build a better rapport and relationship between different generations, who share similar values. In addition, the leaders and successful people of our community who have reached the peak of their careers, can mentor and guide the next generation, in an organized manner.

Contribute to the local community

The third goal is to build bridges within the community we live in. This is achieved by hosting a yearly philanthropy event that supports a local cause or organization.  A Club member may have a passion for supporting a cause such as promoting literacy, fighting hunger, eradicating blindness, or support local organizations Food Bank, UNICEF, USO, Rotary and many more. The Club supports its member’s passion and matches the member’s donation.

Be a reliable support network

The fourth goal is to build bridges and foster connections within our Club 24 members’ families and friends and highlight our culture in the community we live in. As a result, we also build up a reliable support network.
